Gaygirl announce debut EP and share new single 'Mikkel'

Words: Sam Geary

South London's Gaygirl are working towards the release of their first EP, 'Pleasurehead', on April 24 via Permanent Creeps, and today precede it with a new single 'Mikkel'.

Bex Morrison (vocals, guitar) and Lewis Clark (guitar), Louis Bradshaw (drums) and Tom Coyne (bass) fuse sharp guitars, with a raw, alt-pop style of early Garbage, coupled with post-punk leanings.

The song, says Bex, "compares the desperate feelings of confusion at the end of a relationship with a seemingly disastrous tea party amongst bad company," says Bex. "The track came together as a band and we knew early on that it would be a song that doesn't achieve the resolution you would expect - the unresolved building feeling throughout mirrors the lyrical content of covering up feelings and not addressing problems."
