With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.
MAMMALS - MANSION
Sydney-based Mammals, the project of Australian singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Guy Brown, has unveiled his video for recent single ‘Mansion’. Directed by Jordan Lister and filmed at The 1896 in New York, it fittingly partners the electronica track with its intricate beats and emotive vocals, which explores the feeling of “being totally consumed under oceans of powers we can't control."
HAIRCARE - ON THE SIDE
Released last week, 'On The Side' is the self-produced second single from the Freemantle pop-rock quartet's upcoming debut EP, due out in June. Described as "an introspective reflection about the consequences, for better or worse, of life decisions and taking chances," it comes with fuzzy chords and great vocals.
VACATIONS - LAVENDER
The four-piece from Newcastle, New South Wales follow up on last year's 'On Your Own' with new single 'Lavender' via No Fi Records/Believe. Coming ahead of second album 'Forever In Bloom', the Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy)-produced track has a lighter refrain than their previous works. "'Lavender' is a balancing act between creating a dreamy and nostalgic landscape that I want everyone to see, to experience it as we did, but also a personal testament to the friendships that were strengthened and dreams realised from those experiences," says frontman Campbell Burns.

JOSH KING - 116
The Gold Coast-based singer-songwriter announces himself with the release of this debut single, a sprawling and immersive slice of indie synthpop. The three-minute-plus number provides plenty of hooks to accompany soaring vocals and adept lyricism.

FENG - END
Lucy Beeler (Lttle Phnx, Slow), aka Feng, brings some otherworldly lo-fi dreampop to this, her debut single. The Wellington, NZ electronic artist fuses haunting synths and lo-fi beats to provide minimal backing for her ghostly vocal delivery.

CUB SPORT - DRIVE
Brisbane's Cub Sport bring their ethereal pop sound to new single 'Drive'. Coming after last December's three tracks, and lifted from their upcoming fourth album, 'Like Nirvana' (out July 24), the hazy vocals and understated synths fuse beautifully against the glistening dreampop so
undscape and emotionally honest lyrics. "Recognising the magic of life while it’s happening is something really special and that’s what ‘Drive’ is to me," says frontman Tim Nelson says; "capturing that feeling. It’s a love song saying 'You’re a dream and I still can’t believe you give a damn about me'."
