Cheap Teeth drop debut EP, ‘Give Me More, Show Me Less’
Words: Ali Mack
Released last week, Edinburgh post-punks Cheap Teeth give their gnashers a good chomp on their debut EP, ‘Give Me More, Show Me Less’.
After already putting out 'The Wind and The Rain’ and 'Belly of the Beast', these top and tail new tracks 'Greed' and 'Detectress'. Over all, frontman Joe Laycock's vocal delivery, ranging from sardonic snarls to theatrical howls, dominates, while driving home the quartet's 80s-influenced post-punk.
“The EP is a reflection of our strange encounters with people as a band, and a celebration of these experiences,” says Laycock.
“It’s been our first time working with producer Chris McCrory [Catholic Action, Walt Disco] at Glasgow’s infamous Chem 19 studios – and it was great to work in the same place that a load of great Scottish acts have recorded, such as Mogwai, Arab Strap and many more. The aim was step away from our previous lo-fi approach to production and bring through as much of our live presence as possible – I’m chuffed to bits with how it turned out.”
