It's 'Mad Love' for this cut from Naked Roommate's debut LP

Words: Ellie Ward

Out now via Upset The Rhythm (UK) and Trouble In Mind Records (US), Oakland's Naked Roommate share the first single and opening track from their forthcoming debut album 'Do The Duvet', to be released on September 4.

The minimalist post-punk-funk band - who comprise members of The World, The Reptoids, Blues Lawyer, Preening and Exit Group, with Amber Sermeńo and Andy Jordan of The World leading the charge - make a confident electronic entry.

'Mad Love' is sultrily atmospheric and moreish as it glides on layers of beats, capering bass, fluttering guitar hooks and strippled synth, helmed by the icily captivating delivery of Sermeńo.

"'Mad Love' means dwelling in a state where all roles manifest," says Sermeńo. "You’re the fool and the Casanova all at once. Ready for pain, pleasure…. it’s as timeless as sin. Love always makes our interior compass go wild.”

Proceeds from the sale of 'Mad Love' until the end of July will go the Anti-Police Terror Project.
