Having just brought in new female drummer Scarlett, West Midlands four-piece Headshrinkers roll out some searing post-punk on new single '6:41 Sapien'.
Following the less frenetic 'Where She Plays' and last year's 'Underclass', this new offering, released last week, strikes a much more focused approach.
It's not a million miles away from the style of Fontaines D.C., especially in the vocal delivery of frontman Garran Hickman, and '6:41 Sapien' captures the same spiky, full-on approach as the lyrics encapsulate the drudgery of modern life, and the feeling of needing to be liberated from your routine, unleashed through Hickman's poetic lyrics.
Produced by the West Midlands master Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studio, the track's driving bassline, coupled with motorik drums and searing guitar lines complete the three and a half minute fast, frenetic and exciting outing.
