Chicago teen trio Horsegirl have announced their first ever physical release. The 7" single, out on UK label Sonic Cathedral on April 2, is made up of two tracks: 'Ballroom Dance Scene' and 'Sea Life Sandwich Boy'.
The indie rock threesome - 17/18 year old friends, Penelope Lowenstein, Nora Cheng, and Gigi Reece - draw on inspiration from 90s UK and US shoegaze and post-punk for ‘Ballroom Dance Scene'. Written during a Chicago teacher’s strike in 2019, vocal melodies play with icily precise guitars, in the retro-sounding, yet contemporary, number.
