Autoheart Return With Third Single 'Lent'
Following on from their acclaimed debut single ‘The Sailor Song’ - championed by Radcliffe and Maconie, Shaun Keaveny and Bob Harris and which became an instant underground classic, clocking up 150,000 views on YouTube - East London boys Autoheart return with their third single, 'Lent' (available for download on iTunes from February 11).
With a disco beat, its incessant Blondie-esque rhythmic vocal, it's something of a departure from the melodic piano-led pop they have become known for. But the song is distinctly Autoheart.
Singer Jody Gadsden says: ‘Each song on our album 'Punch' has its own character but there is continuity to the album which brings it all together as a complete piece of work. Lent is our ‘disco’ song, albeit a weird broken down, broken hearted disco song. It sounds sweet, but it’s lyrically quite bitter - which makes it a perfect antidote to Valentine’s Day madness.’
Having supported The Hidden Cameras, and Scott Matthew, and performed at Hyde Park this Summer during the Olympics, the band’s night - also called Punch - which ran for all of 2012 featured breakthrough acts including Fiona Bevan and Black Gold Buffalo.
Autoheart’s debut album ‘Punch’, recorded with Coldplay producer Danton Supple (X&Y), is set for release in April.
