The Rapturous Return Of Exit Calm

It's been a wait, but finally after two years it looks like South Yorkshire's finest shoegaze export Exit Calm are back. A glimpse of their forthcoming album was unveiled today with a new single 'The Rapture', set for release on February 18.

Described by Huw Stephens (Radio 1) as a band who is 'truly epic', and praise from Guitarist Magazine who called their debut album 'a sonic and soulful masterpiece', their recent live shows have seen not just the inclusion of the baggy/grunge anthem of ‘The Rapture’, but also ‘Albion’ and the melodic ‘Fiction’.

Exit Calm, both live and on record, are without doubt a band that while displaying both technical nous and quality in showmanship, have not yet taken off into the wider realms as one might have expected. Why, is a mystery. 2010's self-titled debut album clearly demonstrated their ability to create psychedelic indie/rock sonic landscapes of masterful guitar sounds via Rob Marshall and Simon Lindley's melodic bass, against the intense and raw edged vocals of frontman and lyricist Nicky Smith. 'The Rapture' and the later release of their follow-up album could be about to finally put Exit Calm on the map.

'The Rapture' will be available as a limited vinyl 7" release thru Club AC30.

Exit Calm will be playing the following UK dates during February/March.

February 21 - London, Borderline
February 22 - Sheffield, Academy 2
February 23 - Cheltenham, Sound Music Venue 2
February 24 - Birmingham, Academy 3
February 28 - Manchester, Deaf Institute

March 1 - Glasgow, King Tuts
March 2 - Leeds, Cockpit
March 3 - York, Duchess
