First Listen :: Flashes
Five-piece alt rock band Flashes from Cornwall, combine elements of noisy guitars, and electronics, that comes over as part rock, and at times veers towards the psych/shoegaze line; working in some nice guitar sounds that could easily come from the late 80s/early 90s.
Flashes formed in 2010 from the remnants of previous bands and released their debut album 'Latency' in June 2012, which received radio airplay from Amazing Radio and Source FM. Their follow-up, the just released self-titled album, was recorded over four days towards the end of 2012.
Their latest album - released on December 22 - is an interesting mix, ranging from the full-on rock of 'Honour Receipt' and 'The Eathing (Under Your Bed)' to the eight-minutes-plus of the experimental 'Tachimachi' with its psych vibe.
Album Highlights: Capture Box, Tachimachi, To Catch A Ghost.
Flashes are: Jim - Vocals / Guitar; Peasy - Guitar/Vocals / Laptop /Keys; Dan - Guitar; Graham - Bass; Bruce - Drums
