Rare Monk Get Spliced
Oregon's Rare Monk have just unveiled their new double A-side single, 'Splice' / Sleep/Attack', via B3SCI Records.
The five-piece combine their love of both 90s and contemporary indie rock with a fevered pop intensity. The single was recorded in late 2013 in Los Angeles with producer Wally Gagel (Best Coast, Muse). 'Splice' swells from a simple, blissed-out bassline into a soaring indie anthem, whilst 'Sleep/Attack' gives us a glimpse of the band's heavier rock influences, with a giddy edge.
Frontman Dorian Aites explains: "I think the important thing here is not to try and fit a compartmentalised soundscape, or to try and be different from everyone else; the importance lies in doing what you are passionate about. Passion is genuine."
