Atlanta's Black Lips have today (March 7) uploaded the full stream of their 12 track new album ‘Underneath the Rainbow’ - ten days before its official scheduled release on VICE Records on March 17.
The album - the follow-up to 2011's 'Arabia Mountain' - was recorded between New York with Thomas Brenneck, who was recommended by Arabia Mountain producer Mark Ronson, and Nashville with the Black Keys' Patrick Carney, who offered to help produce in a Mexico City hotel room just before dawn.
"It was one of those super-late-night/super-early-morning drunk talk sort of situations, so we weren't sure if he meant it," explains Jared Swilley. "People do that all the time. We were going to call it 'The Dark Side of the Rainbow', then we googled it and realized that's what they call that thing where you watch The Wizard of Oz while listening to Pink Floyd and it syncs up."
The band have also released a new behind-the-scenes video featuring Carney and the band working on 'Dandelion Dust,' 'Funny' and 'I Don't Wanna Go Home' at Blackbird Studios in Nashville.
