West Midlands newcomer Alex Moir hasn't done too badly so far with getting his material heard, picking up support slots for the likes of Gabrielle Aplin, Paul Thomas Saunders and Benjamin Leftwich and radio airplay via Tom Robinson's BBC Radio 6 Mixtape of 2014, BBC Manchester and Amazing Radio.
The singer/songwriter, who has played piano since the age of 7 as well as guitar, and cites influences from Beck to Bowie, has now put his first track out. 'Like Ted Dexter' also comes complete with a self-made video of newsreel footage, animated sections and hand-held camera shots. The track itself is one of those instant happy-clappy affairs that bounces along on a breezy summer vibe.
Alex Moir plays Liverpool Sound City on May 1, followed by The Actress and Bishop, Birmingham on May 6.
