On a subliminal level the name Monty doesn't inspire much enthusiasm in us to venture further to hear them. Why? Perhaps because it conjures up a band who are likely to be middle-of-the-road? Or an X-Factor hopeful?
Harsh, yes, and maybe it's just us? However....name aside - and before we put anyone off - this debut track the Bournemouth three-piece have put out, 'Cough Sweet', is actually a bit alright. It's catchy, tuneful, with some nice guitar licks and a vocal that keeps you into the song and not switching off and wondering why they called themselves Monty, and not Minty, or Mindy - or even Montgomery.
And if we haven't ruined their career already, we look forward to hearing the next release.
