Continuing the rise of new Irish artists, the latest is Dublin three-piece Dear Desert, made up of Brendan Millar (Futures Apart), Richie Fenton and James O’Donnell (Hush War Cry).
Revealing their debut, 'Give It Up', produced by Darragh Nolan of Sacred Animals (and producer for Blooms), they create an atmosphere of brewing tension with driving rhythms, expansive synths and emotive pop melodies. The band honed their sound through a series of low-fi home recordings which informs the textured, electronic soundscape and intimate vocals. and going by this first outing, it seems to have paid off.
