The Case Of The Two Gospels: You've Heard One, Now Try The Other
You know the feeling when you walk into a room decked out in your best new gear, sure you'll be the belle of the ball - only to find someone wearing the exact same outfit? Right: gutted. Similar thing with bands having the same name.
We have recently given quite a bit of coverage to new London electronic duo GOSPEL. It was only when spotting that someone had made a slight faux pas on Twitter in GOSPEL's Twitter handle, that we found out that there was in fact another Gospel doing the rounds too (and with the same Twitter name, minus a few underscores). We're not sure how this one is going to pan out, but we can imagine some discussion will ensue between both Gospels. In the meantime, in the cause of fairness, we thought we'd give a mention to the lower-cased variant too, as they're not at all bad.
This Leeds Gospel #1 - at least we think they got in with the name first - are a four-piece indie outfit who have been around since last year, and formed after guitarists Mav and Paul roped in Christian to add some drum parts to their demo tracks, and were then joined by Daniel on vocals.
The words “love, death and resurrection” which appear on their Facebook page allegedly refer to the main themes of their songs - although we're not too sure where latest track 'Serbian Girl' fits in there, apparently being about one of Amsterdam's 'window girls' that Daniel encountered.
Watch the video for 'Serbian Girl' below .
