The Moles Release First Work In Two Decades

The Moles are back. Or are they? Certainly Australian/American Richard Davies is back with new material: 'Beauty Queen Of Watts'/'Chills', the double-A-side single is his first output for 21 years under The Moles at least, having had four solo albums, worked with American Bob Pollard as Cosmos, and with New Zealand's Eric Matthews as Cardinal (and releasing two Cardinal albums).

The tracks were recorded by Jarvis Taveniere in Brooklyn with help from Free Time, an Australian/American act featuring former members of Real Estate and Scott & Charlene’s Wedding.

'Beauty Queen Of Watts' has a mellow indie pop feel, with a jangling guitar refrain.

The Moles were formed in Sydney and debuted in 1990 with the EP 'Untune the Sky'. After releasing their first album in 1992, they moved to New York, where they released a
pair of seven-inch singles (later packaged together as the 'Double Single' EP). After then relocating to London, The Moles broke up in 1993.
In 1994, Davies revived the band which resulted in their second album 'Instinct'. In 1996, The Moles broke up again - and that's how it has remained ... until now.

This latest incarnation of The Moles heads to the UK next week to play Glastonbury festival and a series of instore shows.
