Watch :: Courtney Barnett Covers Full INXS Album
Courtney Barnett has become something of a new Oz sensation in the last year, but back in December 2012 when she somewhat less internationally known, she covered the whole of fellow Australians INXS' 'Kick' album at Melbourne label Pure Pop Records as part of their Summer Of Classic Albums series in which nearly 70 Australian artists recreated iconic LPs in an intimate setting, all filmed for YouTube.
The footage - almost an hour of - has now surfaced on the video channel.
On acoustic guitar, Barnett takes on each of the 12 tracks on the platinum-selling album in stripped down form, including a rendition of ‘Need You Tonight’ with the use of a loop pedal (“see you don’t even need a band with new technology, just loop everything”) and ‘Mediate, where she is aided by a member of the audience.
Barnett, who has just played Glastonbury and a number of other UK and European festivals, will release her debut album early next year.
