Listen :: Communions
The young Copenhagen four-piece Communions release their 'So Long Sun'/'Love Stands Still' 7″ on November 10 thru Tough Love.
The single is their follow-up to the 'Cobblestones' EP from earlier in the year, and while the four - brothers Martin and Mads Rehof, Jacob van Deurs Formann and Frederik Lind Köppen - share a rehearsal space with fellow Danes Iceage and Lower, that is seemingly as far as it goes sound-wise.
On A-side, 'So Long Sun' opens on a long instrumental laden with crashing drums, percussion and and spindly guitars before the psych vocals hit the rhythm, making ultimately for a kind of joyous upliftment quite unlike what the Scandinavians are best recognised for.
‘Love Stands Still’ in contrast feels fresh, catchy and deliciously upbeat to get you tapping feet along to.
Communions play a single launch show in London at Sebright Arms on release day, November 10.
