Track Of The Day :: Black Peaks - Glass Built Castles

Known by the moniker Shrine up until the latter part of last year, the Brighton-based foursome are now trading under the Black Peaks name. Fortunately, they have retained the same hardcore math-rock sound, as demonstrated on new single 'Glass Built Castles', streaming digitally now with an official release on April 6.

'Glass Built Castles, the follow-up to 'Say You Will' and last year's 'Closer To The Sun' (and which will also feature on their, as-yet-untitled, debut album due sometime later this year), is a heavyweight thrashing chunk of ground-shaking rock that in Will Gardner's vocals, runs the whole gamut from enticing falsetto to a kind of fearsome roar.

Says the man himself of 'Glass Built Castles': “It’s the third part of a four-part, four-track story on the Black Peaks debut album. The song deals with a fictitious individual’s thirst for revenge and the consequences of his actions viewed by an outsider.”

Black Peaks play HRH Prog 3, taking place between March 19-22 at Hafan y Mor, North Wales. They then headline at London’s Barfly on April 8. Further dates to be announced shortly.
