Track Of The Day :: OSKAR - Wildlings
The debut single from up-and-coming Scottish outfit OSKAR, 'Wildlings' (influenced by Game of Thrones they state), released on February 9, has already caught the attention of Jim Gellatly on XFM Scotland, making it his show's 'Breakout' track the day after it dropped.
The indie rock five-piece based in Dunfermline, Fife, formed just under a year ago, and have since shared stages with Catfish and The Bottlemen, Embrace and Fatherson, and released their self-titled six-track debut EP last October.
The four-and-a-half minute-plus 'Wildlings' shows off all the best of OSKAR from the big, anthemic-like soundscape to David Stevens’ distinctive vocal delivery that rather reminds one of how Lewis (Chapel Club) Bowman might sound if he had a Scottish accent. Opening on rumbling drums and tightly synced bass, before Stevens' warming baritone focusses the attention, and the song picks up to storm through the barricades on a swelling crescendo of sound.
