Listen :: Sydney Psych Groovers King Colour Release New Single 'Blue Horizon'

Sydney psych rockers King Colour hit back hard with their latest steaming, swirling head-trip single ‘Blue Horizon'.

Blending mystic guitar hooks, fluttering modal melodies and beat-heavy jungle grooves, coloured throughout with manipulated environmental sounds that seem to place the listener in a dream-like setting, drummer Josh Dives explains its beginning.

“We wrote the track shortly after a week holidaying in the serene rural areas surrounding Byron Bay after Falls Festival last year. We really wanted to capture that sense of serenity visually in the production. There are a heap of sonic elements – textural, musical and environmental – that we worked with carefully to achieve this. The song’s unconventional structure was also something we wanted to flaunt, as the song naturally developed that way.”

King Colour have established themselves as a serious live act in Sydney over the past couple of years with an indisputable energy and a wild, unpredictable set that has recently landed them supports with the likes of Harts, Gang of Youths, Magic Bones and many others.

The band are currently recording their first full-length, set for release later in the year.
