Track Of The Day :: Fieldings - A Pleasant Stutter

Fieldings is the solo electronic alt-pop project of Lucinda Hearn (formerly known as The Understudy), who, despite only getting off the ground last year, has already produced two EPs - 'Wild Release, Vol I', released last June, and followed by 'Wild Release, Vol II' in September - and now returns with new single 'A Pleasant Stutter', via Catch Release Records.

The Sydney-based songwriter / producer is, according to the press release (although we're not exactly sure what it means), 'concerned with small movements and repeating patterns - those moments where the mundane becomes sublime.' Although 'A Pleasant Stutter' does rather fulfill the 'sublime' in assailing the ears with an array of lustrous sounds - including a thunderstorm and a car safety PSA from the 70s - in just under four minutes of restrained, spacious layers of hauntingly exhilarant vocals and percussive beats.
