Introducing :: SAP
Words: Gavin Watson
SAP are the reincarnation of the radio unfriendly sounding “The F*cks, a temporary name they adopted for their debut gig supporting Rat Boy at The Fighting Cocks in Kingston, south-west London in April. With their initials standing for “Simple Ass People” they are still unlikely to be referred to by their full name - at least in daylight hours.
The three-piece (who all reside south of the river) are - and all seem to have been credited with nicknames they are known by (although probably just within their 'hood): Angus McGuinness (aka 'Angres Mcbutterballs') on lead vocals/guitar, Will Tyler ('Wilson') on bass, and Shane Keaney ('Kiwi') hitting the drums.
Formed just this past April, 'Attitude' is their first online debut. With more tracks in the pipeline in the months ahead, the band are currently focused on their live act. They may be new to the game, but aside from Rat Boy show they have also knocked out an energetic performance recently supporting the fast-rising YAK at the Sebright Arms in east London.
'Attitude' is a punchy two-minute slice of indie rock with an insistent rockabilly beat over-laid with McGuinness' raw, distorted vocals - which seem in sharp contrast to his other career as a model. Always secondary to his music ("Music has been more of a passion in my life than modelling," he tells us), his 'other life', however, over the last couple of years has seen the six-footer signed to the select Models 1 agency, take to the catwalks of Paris and the pages of Vogue, and not to mention a cameo appearance in the hit ITV drama series, Downton Abbey.
But back to the music..."Fuzz is god," says McGuinness. We think we may be hearing a lot more of that fuzz too from this rather exciting new outfit.
