Track Of The Day :: Girls Names - Reticence
Words: Ellie Ward
Northern Ireland’s Girls Names return this autumn with their third full-length album, 'Arms Around a Vision', set for release on October 2 via Tough Love Records. Prior to which they are streaming album opener, ‘Reticence’, which you can hear below.
The group have built a name over the last four years for turning out menacing post-punk indie rock, but even their recent eleven-minute 'Zero Triptych' is not in the same vein as 'Reticence', a song that journeys around coldly metallic angular guitars , shimmering electronics and Cathal Cully knocking the gloom out for stylish swagger. It sounds unlike anything they’ve ever done before. Quite brilliant.
Girls Names play London's Ace Hotel tonight, June 3.
