Marching Church are 'Coming Down' and coming to the UK

Words: Ellie Ward

Nothing like a little Marching Church to warm you up on a cold day...Not. The Iceage frontman Elias Bender Rønnenfelt's side project are more likely to produce icicles and turn your spine to a shivering pole - but hell, do they always manage to sound so fine with all that brooding darkness about them.

The latest from the Danish outfit is a limited-edition 12". 'Coming Down: Sessions In April' is to be released on February 19 via Sacred Bones Records. The 'April' of the title being a reference to the recording session which took place last year.

Check out A-side 'Coming Down' below. On the record's B-side, Marching Church take on a fully instrumental 21-minute free jazz odyssey.

“It’s an excerpt from a two-hour long improv session,” Rønnenfelt said of the track. “Which I guess was an attempt at playing jazz music, though no one involved had any experience playing jazz.” The track also features Kristian Emdal and Anton Rothstein of Lower, Frederikke Hoffmeier (aka Puce Mary), Cæcilie Trier (aka CTM), Bo Høyer Hansen, and Nils Gröndahl.
