Track Of The Day :: TRASH - Workout

Words: Ellie Ward

Formed in 2014 between Daniel Longmore (vocals / guitar) and Tom Barton (bass / vocals) who had been together in a band called Stay Happy, and old school friends Evan Martin (guitar / vocals) and Bradley Weston (drums), TRASH signed to Clue Records last year, Chesterfield's TRASH followed their own self-released 'Pretty Swish' EP with the first single for the label last summer, '4 Miles', quickly followed by second EP ‘Urban Glow’.

With a rapidly growing reputation via their live shows, and their indie-pop reverb-infused sound, the four-piece are about to release the first product ftim their time in the studio with Alex Greaves, with their Robin Schmidt (Wolf Alice, The 1975) mastered new single, 'Workout'.

Released through Clue Records on April 1 as a digital download, 'Workout' is no April Fool's joke. The near-four-minute, radio friendly track is a mix of catchy indie pop strains, that opens on a frenetic guitar wail, driving bass and tight, forceful drums, before allowing Longmore to impart a tale of break-ups, anxiety, friends and finding a respite at the bottom of a bottle: “Drink away all that I know / hope it’ll be ok tomorrow”. We think it will, lad, we think it will.
