Track Of The Day :: Wise Child - Figurehead

Words: Ellie Ward

After giving us their gorgeous debut  'Tomoko' at the back end of last year, Melbourne electronic duo Wise Child release their second single ‘Figurehead’.

Wise Child is the musical partnership of siblings, Jem and Tom King, and they continue their theme of sparse electronica etched with Jem's ethereal vocals in a dark, dreamy soundscape on 'Figurehead', as it opens on dreamy drone tones before the bass comes in to give it weight - and wait for the samples in the bridge, which from astronauts in 60s/70s.

“'Figurehead' is about thinking of big ideas. Dreaming about your pasts and futures at the same time. Retrospective and introspective. Whenever I am down, I can listen to this turned up to 11 and it gets me out of bed every time," says Tom.

Wise Child play a single launch show on March 25 at Bar Open in Melbourne, with very special guests Solar Tapes, James Seedy and RKDA DJs.
