Listen :: It's all about the Cabbage, and it ain't boiled
Words: Izzy B
If Cabbage have managed to bypass your ears up until now - which will mean you have not knowingly been graced with a waft of 'Le Chou' (it's French for 'cabbage', dontcha know), their debut EP of January - either through the memory of boiled cabbage school dinners being somewhat offputting, or simply that are still too relatively new, well here's a word (or four actually): get on to them! This Manchester neo-post-punk five-piece are quietly exciting a lot of 'biz' people with their originality.
Take a listen to the five-track record below, and grab a whiff of 'Kevin', their first single outing, which gives a taste of their idiosyncratic styling, and why they are figuring as such a big catch. Animated, angry, and catchy garage-esque vibes dominate over rabid vocals and pulsating guitars; bold, noisy rhythms set against the off-the-wall Northern humour groove and Dystopian lyrics.
