LA's surfer-turned-singer Lexie Papilion - Bloodboy - has produced something of an immense banger in new single 'Keep Your Disease', released last week.
Set to appear on her debut EP - due this autumn - it follows her two earlier singles from this year, 'Human Female' and August's 'Hey Kid', in a fierce fusion of alt-rock and indie pop, in a pulsating vein of anthemic, infectious and attitude-riven post-punk that recalls Karen O.
“The song is from the perspective of this sort of omnipotent, subliminal figure on a megaphone projecting these deeply rooted societal constructs and the ‘disease’ that is referenced is actually your true inner desires,” explains the 25-year-old musician. “It’s kind of a call to action – a ‘wake the fuck up, do you even know yourself at all?’
