Avalanche Party bring the party to Camden Rocks - Q + A

London's Camden Rocks starts rockin the streets of Camden on Saturday June 3.

If you still haven't got around to working out just who to see, we will be suggesting a few names we are banking on over the next 10 days.

AVALANCHE PARTY

North Yorks garage-punks Avalanche Party blast out sonic walls of psych-noise fuzz, in around three minutes that will knock you for six in the way that only someone who's been floored in a boxing ring will understand the force of. Bring earplugs.

Camden Rocks - this your first time 'rocking Camden'?

It sure is our first time rocking and a rollin' round them colourful streets and vintage shirts. Salivations and titilations at the thought.

Do you have any special treats planned for your festival fans on the day?

Hobnobs and Eccles cakes all round. Perhaps some European cuisine? We'll be phresssshh off a tour over there.

Do you have a different focus playing festivals to a standard gig?

Not particularly. Every gig is the same for us. Our approach to a gig is no different from playing to five people or 5000. I guess festivals do differ though in that not everyone will be there to see you, or are seeing you for the first time. That's a cool side, playing to new audiences. But festivals are very fun to play, and generally bands are up for a good piss up in a field. Or a street in this case. Seen some bloody marvellous gigs at festivals.

Where will you be playing and time?

Be At One with yourself and us at 5:00pm. Sharp, but no cuts.

What is your favourite song in your set?

It varies really. But it's been great seeing people singing them back to you. We've noticed it more this year that people know our tunes even in places that we're playing our first gig in. 'Solid Gold', 'Porcelain', and 'Get Together' in particular seem to get the cockles bouncing.

What do you like best about festival gigs?

Playing them means obviously you're generally playing to new people and that's always banging. It's cool playing different stages and venues too. There's nowt quite like playing a festival on a glorious day/night, surveying all in front, having a mint time or arguing about who forgot the crack. But also on the circuit you get to catch up with mates bands who're playing and see new acts. Lest not forget Tuborg and noodles. Toodles.

Ever had a festival disaster?

Saw The Hoosiers live once.

Can you remember the first festival you ever went to as a punter?

Think my first festival was a local affair in the Moors when I was knee high grasshopper of 6--years-old. Naturally, I had all the ket' so I remember very little. First "big" festival would've been Leeds Festival when I was about 15/16.

Before or after the crowds catch your set at Camden Rocks, who else would be your festival must-see tip?

So much choice. What a smorgasbord of musical choice. Our mates The Blinders are a must see. They're slaying the festivals at the moment. Dynamite.

Who else will you try and see on the day?

The Blinders. October Drift are a band I've heard mint things about. Not seen them live properly yet so gonna try change that for sure. Brighton buds SONS are playing too, I think. Pulled Apart By Horses and The Coral maybes. See where the scent of fun takes me.
