Watch :: Courts show Essex life in 'True Say' video

Words: Sam Geary

Essex five-piece Courts have already got the likes of Zane Lowe, Nile Rodgers and Elton John onside with their upbeat signature funk pop sound, and now to partner single 'True Say' they reveal the Harry Barber-directed video.

The band filmed the video in their hometown of Basildon, and features friends they grew up with, and explores places from their past.

“We think the video sums up what we're about perfectly. 'True Say' took a little while to write and was one of those awkward tracks that didn't work first time round. It started as another song initially, but was stripped back to the original chord progression and a completely new song was born from it. It's about Chris' [vocalist, Chris Moody] life experiences from childhood until now.”

Courts' debut EP, 'Back of the Mind', is out now on Kitsuné.
