Track Of The Day :: Johnny Kills - My Shirt Guy Is High
Words: Linn Branson
Brighton/London/York three-piece Johnny Kills don't let miles separate them when it comes to music. Despite university placing them in different parts of the country, they found time to record their second single at The Nave studio with Alex Greaves.
Released tomorrow (July 25), 'My Shirt Guy Is High' is the follow-up to last month's official debut 'Let's Talk About Me' - which gained them airplay on BBC Introducing South and Amazing Radio.
Like their previous offerings, Johnny Kills present another in their line of catchy, grunge-infused hooky numbers with a coating of shimmery hooks and twinkly keys. And if you were wondering about the title, 'My Shirt Guy Is High', it is as you may have guessed. "Not that we advocate that sort of thing," the band assure us when we ask, "it just ties in with the themes of the track: boredom, listlessness, lack of motivation etc."
While we're not sure how often these three - brothers Tim (lead vocals/guitar) and Lewis (guitar/ bass/vocals) Lloyd-Kinnings, and Cameron Gipp (guitar/bass/vocals) - are to be found in the same place at the same time, we can guarantee that on September 15 they will all be joined at the hip for their first London show at The Old Blue Last - "with more gigs in the works too..."
