Let's talk about Johnny Kills.
For a start, 'Let's Talk About Me', the debut single from the Brighton/London/York trio, was just released this Monday (June 5) on Johnny's Killer Records. Secondly, if you didn't know, on a first listen you might mistake them for an American East Coast band. Thirdly, 'Let's Talk About Me' is very good.
The third offering from the three - after last year's 'Maybe Next Time' and 'Take It Easy' - but first as an official release, the track exudes plenty of indie pop fuzz infused with a rock 'n' roll vitality and synth melodics, and surfy vocals via Tim Lloyd-Kinnings, who describes the song as "about the frustrations of hanging out with people who spend the whole evening talking about themselves before realizing you kinda just want to talk about yourself too."
We think people may soon be talking about Johnny Kills too.
