New tracks coming up from Down Under

Little Indie casts its ears and eyes over more of the latest sounds to emerge recently from Down Under.

JUNGLE CUFFS - THERE'S ESHAYS IN MY HOUSE

Melbourne garage-punk girl four-piece - Evie Vlah, Lauren Hunter, and sisters Hannah and Neve Tullberg - are starting to cook up a storm on the Melbs scene with their Runaways-like sound. Frontwoman Vlah describes the track - released November 5 - as "a song we chucked together about Eshays [apparently Australian rude boi slang] being in someone’s house at a party and we find it pretty funny. There’s a fat fuzz tone in it which we like and it’s our debut single, so we wanted everyone to know that we were deeply connected to Eshays."

LAZERTITS - NEW FRIEND

More Melbourne girls, this time the five-piece last featured by Little Indie a year ago with 'Boss Bitch'. They released their debut album, 'Not Punk, Per Se', on November 10 from which this punchy number comes. They play a launch show on November 25 at The Curtin in Carlton, Victoria.

SWAMP - I WANNA BE YOU

The Melbourne five-piece return after last year's debut single 'Don't Need It' with this new Matthew Neighbour (Matt Corby, The Avalanches)-produced shimmery pop-rock single.

WATER - COUNTRY CALLS

The Auckland, NZ alt-pop group have just released their debut 'Enjoy' EP, played their first live show the other week and have this mellow single cut out too. A Kiwi supergroup featuring Oscar Davies-Kay (of Rackets) on songwriting duties, along members of Surf City, Couchmaster, and Bozo.

HARRIS - BED BUGS

Released November 6, the laid-back title track of Wellington, NZ alt-pop-rock artist Harris Mackenzie Boock's solo debut album, recorded in his lounge.

"For me, the whole thing sits somewhere between falling asleep and waking up. It’s interesting that we have rituals around these processes that involve sound, like lullabies and alarms. I guess these songs are both.”

BRUISE PRISTINE - NOT LIKE YOU

Second single and title track of their August released debut EP from the Sydney three-piece: Kate Olivia (guitar/vocals), Jasmine Smith (bass) and Michelle Baker (drums). Brooding grungey rock with guitar-heavy, fuzzed out post-punk edge, while lyrically details mental illness, the isolation felt by minorities, battered relationships and addiction.
