In these grey, overcast winter days many of us will fall prey to a spot of gloominess as we brace ourselves against the darker nights, the biting winds and pouring rain. But for some, like 22-year-old West London singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Philip Whitehead, Seasonal Affective Disorder (often referred to as 'Winter Blues'), is a very real blight on their lives.
He has chosen to use this experience for his new single, ’Winter’, released today (January 26), and which Little Indie is stoked to premiere.
"'Winter' describes the slow recession into hibernation that always seems to happen to me and many others like me as the days start to get shorter," Philip tells Little Indie. "It's a feeling everyone can relate to, but some are affected more than others and I guess this song, to me, has become something of an anchor and a gentle reminder that winter never lasts forever."
'Winter' - which follows last autumn's 'The Paper Man’s Blues’ - is a gloriously mellow number, with it's gentle, yet spine-tingling, frosty-edged opening, before the soulful, blues-styled vocal comes in to show Mr. W is something of an undiscovered gem that one feels we are going to be hearing a lot more of.
