10 Little Indie Hot Picks
Ten of the latest hot picks that have been rockin the player at Little Indie HQ over the last weeks.
THE CHEAP THRILLS - CODEPENDENCE
New single from the Liverpool four-piece, recorded in their hometown's Parr Street Studios. The follow up to last year's 'Sentimentality' sees them again turn out big on sonic garage-psych.
THE GLOOMIES - TIGER
After last year's 'Space', infectious new track from the California indie-pop duo, Andy Craig and drummer Chris Trombley. With a debut album seemingly on the way (after more than five years - 'bout time), they are on the road in May in the US with Cullen Omori giving the songs a try out.
BREAKFAST MUFF - PATIENT
The second single from the Glasgow trio's EP 'Crocodile', out now via Prawnshelle Records. The band share singing duties and swap instruments; this time it's Cal Donnelly (also in Spinning Coin) who takes the honours.
NIGHT OWLS - BETTER WITH AGE
Out now, the second cut from their 'Tragically Human' EP, released next month by the grunge pop trio. Snarling, ferocious and dripping with fury, the Leeds outfit’s latest offering sees them bring in experimental electronic influences, whilst retaining their trademark energy and vocal delivery. Catch live on April 20 at Fruit in Hull supporting Weirds.
APRE - ALL YOURS
Confident, self-produced debut from new London production and multi-instrumentalist duo, from their forthcoming EP ‘The Movement Of Time’. Addictive indie pop in style of Foals. Catch live on April 23 at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London.
DANTEVILLES - THE FIGHTER
Released April 6 on Heist or Hit, the Manchester soul-pop four-piece drop their Joe Cross (Hurts, Courteeners)-produced latest. From their self-titled EP, out May 11, it's trademark upbeat, with soulful vocals, abd a disco groove.
CHIMP DUNCAN - VOICE IN MY HEAD
London based alt-indie three-piece unveil this as their first offering. A catchy, funk beat is topped with an ambient pop vocal and floating synth melodies. Distinctly moreish.
SHEAFS - SHOCK MACHINE
Sheffield indie-rockers release this follow up to last November's 'This Is Not A Protest' on April 20 via Tunecore. Working with producer Thomas Mitchener (Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes), the band continue to stretch and explore new boundaries, hitting home with strident pace and grit, bound with a message.
WATERCOLOURS - HOW DO YOU FEEL?
Textured indietronica, mixing ambient rock-psych with trip-hop bass lines, clipped beats and atmospheric vocals from the Cheltenham three-piece.
HELLO CASANOVA - CHILDHOOD LOVE
Irish (Armagh/Belfast) pop-rock four-piece released their self-produced single last week, taken from their debut EP ‘Daughter’.
Soaring guitar opening leads into a slightly quirky vocal and driving snare drums. It gets more foot-tapping and catchy as it goes along. Might take a few listens.
