Track Of The Day :: Roman Lewis - Mindless Town

Words: Linn Branson

Roman Lewis is just 17 years ago. Apart from sounding at least a decade older, and with looks that resemble a male version of a Pre-Raphaelite muse - full lips, dark, tumbling hair - which is a fair starting point to make an entrance to guarantee notice, he has also employed the services of one of the best producers around, namely Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Foals, The Amazons) to record his official debut single.

‘Mindless Town’ is a simple, unaffected track, that utilises just his effective voice and acoustic guitar to put across a song with sincerity and aplomb that has drawn comparisons to Jeff Buckley.

And while the Londoner may be called a 'newcomer' in terms of putting out his first official track, he is something of an old hand already, having started playing in public three years ago. He can also be heard even earlier on a track called 'Testimony' by MultiMillion Music from...2012, when he can have been no more than 12 or 13!

Lewis was picked up a few years ago by Amazing Radio's Charlie Ashcroft with tracks 'Lighter' and 'Relatively Minor', but is now seemingly returning in a new, more professional light.

Before you go, check him out here back in 2015 performing an original song, 'Confession'.
