Listen :: Crooked Colours - I'll Be There

Words: Ellie Ward

Recently in the UK on their Perfect Run tour, Australian indie electronica trio Crooked Colours share the first single from their second album, due out early next year.

Penned during their time on the road, ‘I’ll Be There’ - out now on Sweat It Out - is a perfect re-introduction for the Perth-based group, taking some of the instrumental timbre which has become synonymous with the band's style, whilst injecting layered tribal influenced vocals, hypnotic loops, and driving synths throughout.

"The first release for an album is always difficult, but we felt that 'I’ll Be There' is the perfect departure," says singer/guitarist Phil Slabber. "We were heavily influenced by spending 18 months on the road since releasing 'Vera' and got a lot of insight into what was connecting from a live perspective. With this single we feel that we have the right balance between a track that's just as enjoyable through a set of headphones as it is dancing along at one of our live shows or festivals."

Following dates in Australia, Crooked Colours head to North America in October/November. See dates here
