Track Of The Day :: th13ves - 'Casino'
Words: Linn Branson
Emerging Dundee band th13ves, who are apparently "Thirteen Thieves, but we shorten it to th13ves to kinda play on the word/letters" - which may be a bit confusing to those unfamiliar with them, and also how you pronounce 'th13ves' if not seen with the Thirteen in front.
Formed just this year, th13ves debut ‘Dreamers’ saw them pick up praise from the likes of Jim Gellatly (Amazing Radio,
Scottish Sun), who made it his 'track of the day', and now - aside from the name thing - they are back with their second single, released last Friday (October 5), about which there is no confusion.
'Casino' is a pretty big number. A rousing guitar-led track punctuated by pounding drums and some quite anthemic riffs, 'Casino' is not just a damnably fine tune, but one that displays its Scottish balls.
