Track Of The Day :: N.Y.C.K. - Wild Streak

Words: Ellie Ward

Australian artists Dominique Garrard and Nicholas Acquroff, aka N.Y.C.K., combine forces for this first single since their 'Alive' EP nearly two years ago.

'Wild Streak' documents a night out in visceral detail, and the accompanying video clip is one where you cannot switch off until the end; setting out in stark imagery the song's lyrics.

"It's a film that makes you feel everything that we talked about while writing the song," say the Melbourne-based duo of the simple, but affecting, ballad. "That push and pull on every big night out. The searching for limits, the competing voices that tell you to stay out, keep going, go too far. Buy this, kiss her, snort that. And then on the other side they whisper calm down, listen to your body, go the fuck home.

"'Wild Streak' is all about the way your highs and lows butt up against each other during bad times. And this film just captured all of that tension so beautifully - Jarred Osborne from Wildebeest, Nic Denton, Ben Keller - the whole cast and crew brought this unique emotion to the fore, and also gave us something idiosyncratically Australian - close to our own hearts and lives and landscapes."
