Motel Carnation may be a new name, but its three members all hail from previous well-known Newcastle bands.
After leaving their former outfits, Alexander Soper (Coquin Migale), Conor McBride (Deep.Sleep, Casual Threats) and Austin Tweddle (Scalesia) now make up the new project, who, today, Little Indie can bring you the premiere of their inaugural single drop.
'Saul', out tomorrow (May 3), channels inspiration from their previous individual musical endeavours, encapsulated in four minutes of dance-infused, vibe-laced indie, with an off-kilter, dark electronic vein running throughout, with Alex Soper bringing his familiar seductively hypnotic voice to bear over the top.
Lyrically exploring themes of unreciprocated love within toxic and stereotypical relationships, Alex defines it further, saying:
“This is a love song outlining ones passionate and intense love for another which is only returned at the lover’s convenience. I’ve both witnessed and been a part of these relationships wherein which you would do anything for your partner to find it is often unreciprocated. The song examines love, lust, and passion - a sexual relationship that fails to hold much sincerity or companionship. Songs of this nature universally resonate and this song looks to provide catharsis for its listener.”
