** PREMIERE ** The Goa Express - The Day
Words: Linn Branson
Following the release of last summer's debut EP 'Use Your Brain', Manchester/ Burnley/Todmorden hailing crew The Goa Express have been busy working with Fat White Family keyboardist Nathan Saoudi at ChampZone Studios in Sheffield on their upcoming new single, 'The Day / 'Be My Friend'.
Officially dropping on July 5, Little Indie can give you a premiere special with the single A-side, 'The Day'. At just over two minutes in length, 'The Day' won't take up much of the listener's day, but it's likely to be one that will make an impression on it. Think Parquet Courts topped with some fuzzy garage and a small dollop of California surf sound, wrapped up in one raw, but catchy riffed little bundle that's definitely a... goa.
“The new tracks are about moving out to university and getting caught for doing shit whilst there and also about the fake, social media platform of our society, lick arses and how everybody wants to pretend that they’re friends," says straight-talking frontman James Douglas Clarke.
Catch the band live on July 27 for a hometown show at The Golden Lion ("where the band pretty much started and came together and played intimate shows here") in Todmorden.
The Goa Express are: James Douglas Clarke (vocals, guitar), Joey Stein (guitar, vocals), Naham Muzaffar (bass), Joe Clarke (keys/synth), Sam Launder (percussion)
