Make Friends make sunshine indie on 'Ellie'

Words: Ellie Ward

Taken from their forthcoming EP 'Hi' -
out this Friday - Bristol's Make Friends drop one of its tracks, the summery 'Ellie, as their new single.

"'Ellie' is the most personal track on the EP," says the quartet's lead singer Tom Andrew. "It's a retrospective account of the frustration and emptiness felt from a lack of connection in your relationship. It's also about coming to terms with the fact that maybe it coming to an end was for the best and accepting that they might be happier with someone else."

Recorded at Geoff Barrow's Invada Studios, Bristol with Everything Everything keys player and producer Pete Sene, 'Ellie' shows off a taste of the band's hook-laden, infectious indie-pop sound that has earned them comparisons to the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Bloc Party.

Make Friends play an EP launch show on July 25 at The Mother's Ruin in Bristol.
