** PREMIERE ** Bubbatrees - Alchemy
Words: Ellie Ward
Scottish new wave synth-rockers Bubbatrees drop their latest single ‘Alchemy’ tomorrow (July 26) - but we couldn't wait, so here Little Indie brings you an early listen to what the Glaswegian quartet describe as marking "a new era of Bubbatrees".
Opening with dark, enticing synths, 'Alchemy' builds on a sonic wall of pulsating drum beats and reverb-heavy guitar twangs, helmed by Andrew Gibb’s deep, rich vocal which resonates fluidly across the track's four minutes.
“‘Alchemy' by definition is the transformation of a base metal into gold, the song takes this idea and builds upon it metaphorically," explains Gibb. "It’s about how we are experiencing an old way of life transforming into a new one and how the more natural, less technological age is transgressing into an ever evolving digital age."
Catch Bubbatrees live on August 24 at the 12 Guitars Launch Party at the Glasgow Caring City venue in Govan.
Bubbatrees are: Andrew Gibb - vocals, guitar; Kyle Findlay - bass, synth, vocals; Cameron Robertson - guitar, bass; Martin McGeachie - drums, samples, vocals
