Diving Station buzz on new single 'Honey Bees'

Words: Sam Geary

Manchester quartet Diving Station return with new single, ‘Honey Bees’.

Having previously drawn comparisons to Alvvays, Death Cab For Cutie, and Snail Mail, 'Honey Bees' plays upon those earlier comparisons whilst also featuring newer elements via the use of drum samples and strings.

Drawing inspiration from popular culture literature, vocalist Anna McLuckie  addresses the controversial nature of incorporating sensitive themes into art forms.

“The lyrics themselves are about trying to portray the darker intimacies of many relationships and and the dangers and delicacies you have to approach that with,” she says. “I wrote the song after reading the book Milk & Honey by Rupi Kaur.”
