Recently crowned Firestone’s national 2019 ‘Road to the Mainstage’ winners, Scottish indie-rockers, The Lutras, return with their full-throttle, Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic, Fatherson)-produced single ‘Fight Night’, released last Friday (December 13).

Who are you?

I’m Thomas Gillan, guitarist, and you also have: singer Ben Clements; Danny Heron, bass, and Finlay Maxwell on drums.

Tell us something about yourself and how you came to be where you are today.

Hard work, playing anywhere possible and we’ve gradually grown our fan base from doing so, all over the UK, from a small town in Scotland called Dumfries where we are based.

Give us an idea of your musical style and influences.

Standard rock, anything with a big chorus; going from Hendrix, Motley Crue, to Stereophonics. Stadium bands, I suppose.

Explain the production and writing process behind your songs.

The songs come from Danny and Ben, they bring them into the studio and we crack them as a band. When it comes to recording, we’ve taken the tracks into Bruce Rintoul and he’s added the finishing touches to get it sounding the way we want it to for the final thing.

Tell us a little about your new single.

It’s a story of the working class youth.
You can expect a big chorus and heavy guitars.

Can we catch up with you at any forthcoming live shows?

For 2019 we’ve a few shows left in Scotland:

20th December - PJ Molloys, Dunfermline. 21st December - Best Generator, Dundee. 28th December - The Venue, Dumfries.

How's next year looking, plans-wise?

Next year is looking big. UK tours, hitting Europe, plenty of festivals and a healthy amount of releases.

Where can we hear more of your music?

Spotify is the main one There’s some demos on Soundcloud and YouTube, but the majority of our stuff is on Spotify.

What social media platforms can we find you on?
