** VIDEO PREMIERE ** Slender Pins - Rough

Words: Linn Branson

Little Indie premiered last year's 'Not Long Now' by south-east London four-piece Slender Pins. Now they are back with a new St Valentine's Day drop and fresh visuals which we begged to get first dibs on!

Recorded and produced in their drummer’s front room, Slender Pins’ third release 'Rough' is an electric, guitar-driven two-minute 10 second burst inspired by lust and decay, with lyrics that tell a half-true story of the power of sexual adventure in a world of Tinder-ised gloom.

"It began as an Elvis Presley parody, but while jamming in the kitchen and listening to Roxy Music it slipped out of control and became the throbbing missile you hear today," explains vocalist Ash Burt. "The Elvis intro was eventually dropped and we were left with a two minute burst which, when we first heard it, pleased us so much that we were left unconscious for twenty minutes."

The monochrome video is a montage of stock image from films of the 1920s showing people in a state of dance.

The reason for this, explain the band, is a juxtaposition between "the relatively pessimistic lyrics around human relationships/physical connection, and the eternal optimism associated with dance. We love all things auld and with it being the 2020s we deemed a hark back to 1920s appropriate."

Get your dancing shoes on for a spin of 'Rough' below.

Slender Pins are: Ash Burt - vocals, Alex Sword - guitar, Rob Sword - bass Ed Skerry - drums.
