Track Of The Day :: Brayden Sibbald - Sparse
Words: Sam Geary
Released last week, 'Sparse' comes as the follow up to the recent 'Thin Air' from Western Australia singer-songwriter Brayden Sibbald.
Fielding an array of tingling layers of atmospheric electronic instrumentation, and a James Blake-esque voice that commands attention, Sibbald's penchant for richly textured indie-pop soundscapes is given full rein on this track from his forthcoming EP, out on June 12.
“I wrote an early version of 'Sparse' on a trip to Iceland in early 2019, where I instantly fell in love with and was heavily inspired to write by the sweeping, epic, empty landscapes," he reveals. "It’s a track about feeling like there is nothing going for you but then everything falls into place. We ended up keeping a lot of the parts from the demo I did at home in the final version.”
