Listen :: The Institutes - Heal In Time
Words: Steve Willcox
Premiered by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6 Music, Coventry four-piece The Institutes have released their newest indie rock anthem, ‘Heal In Time’.
Out now through End Of The Trail Creative, as singer Reid Currie’s vocal soars above the shining guitars with a bass chord moodily chasing the heady beats and big choruses, ‘Heal In Time’ produces imagery of optimism and a “never give up” attitude against the backdrop of Covid-19, and equally as the recovery of broken hearts.
Sounding somewhere between New Order, The La ‘s and 80s band The Primitives, they bring along a much needed pick me up to these dark days with lyrics like:
“In the blink of an eye on the edge of a dream / When the light of the day turns into to the night / You'll be there when I sleep and I close my eyes now /
Is it your silhouette or a trick of the light? / This will all heal in time.. But it's fading away over the clouds."
Listen in.
