'Show Me' is the cry from Northern quartet MCRAE
Words: Sam Geary
Burnley four-piece MCRAE return with their biting new single 'Show Me'.
Released last week, the track carries a biting, gritty edge as it focuses on the disparity between what we need, and what we think we need.
"'What's it like to be ignored / Can't remember what it was like before / I thought I wanted to be adored", run the incisive lyrics, delivered with a raw delivery that adds a punk-inspired weight over alt-pop rhythms.
"‘Show Me’ touches on the paths someone may choose when coming of age in a northern English town and the frustrations that can arise from that," explain the band on the song. "Lots of people move in search of somewhere ‘better’ or at least busier, but often end up returning because it’s not quite as expected. Most don’t even know what they’re looking for."
